Who is Jouko

Hi,

My name is Jouko Tolonen. I am a 50 something graduate engineer. I was born in Finland where I completed my schooling, army and university studies. My early school times were moderate to excellent but when you are young and male it is understandable. Maybe it was the army that changed all, who knows. In any case I came out as lieutenant and since that time my studies have been top class. I completed three years of mechanical engineering studies to get by BSc (in Teknillinen Oppilaitos). My superior results ensured me a place at the University of Oulu where I completed my MSc (DI in Finnish) in Physical Metallurgy.

Life is strange. Languages were not my forte but immediately after graduation I came to South Africa where Finnish may be described as mildly useless. I assume that I like challenges.

Most of my working life I have been involved with piping and piping components; project management, maintenance, design, sales, erection pricing and so on. Intelligence ensures the easiest route to complete a task in a productive way. To spend two days developing a new working method that cuts the work load from two hours to one is acceptable to me. I do it all the time. The trick is that next time I do it again and again. The end result is that the same work is done at the end in a minute or two. Don't laugh. This is possible. Or what about from two weeks to under eight hours? What a task saver on a monthly duty.

I use computers. All the time and everywhere. I have been using them since 1977. That is before PC was around. This is the time after the cards. Who remembers those lovely paper tapes with holes which had to be rolled up?

I am highly respected in the computer field. Computers and programs advance so fast that it is impossible to keep up with everything. I try and with my background I am successful in my concentrated areas.

Hobbies. These pages always give hobbies. So I assume I also should.

After that list can you take me seriously? You better. Its good for you and for your company's profits.
